Glossary / in plain English

POS data

POS data is the record a till or checkout makes when someone buys or returns something.

01 / Why it matters

What this helps you understand.

Receipts tell you what was bought, where and when. A receipt without a customer key cannot automatically become part of a person's journey.

02 / A small example

The steps. Then the tag.

Example rule / events → tag

  1. Loyalty: member identified at checkout

  2. POS: member purchase completed

In this order, on the same receipt and member ID, with no full refund.

Resulting tag

Member completed a purchase

Illustrative rule. Sources, match keys and timing are agreed in the build.

03 / In DataGlue

How we use it.

DataGlue joins available till records with loyalty, website or other sources when they share reliable keys. Purchase and refund definitions are agreed before a tag feeds another tool.
