Glossary / in plain English
Footfall
Footfall is a count of visits or people passing through a place during a chosen time.
What this helps you understand.
A counter may count entries rather than unique people. The location, time window and counting method matter before you compare visits with sales.
The steps. Then the tag.
Example rule / events → tag
Site counter: hourly entries recorded
POS: sales for that hour recorded
Join by the same site and hour, then apply an agreed entries-and-sales threshold.
Resulting tag
High-entry, low-sales hour
Illustrative rule. Sources, match keys and timing are agreed in the build.
This is a site-and-hour tag. Aggregate counts do not prove which visitor bought.
How we use it.
DataGlue can join available footfall counts with store, venue or campaign records at a shared place and time. Person-level journeys need separate identity evidence.
