A common problem / a joined result
Our reports don't agree
Give a disputed number one shared rule, with the records behind it.
Talk through the sources behind your question.
Sound familiar?
Marketing counts enquiries. Sales counts signed deals. Finance counts paid invoices. You spend the meeting checking whose number is right instead of deciding what to do.
The pieces live apart.
Each system holds a different step and may use a different date or definition. Without a shared customer key and a rule for the result, two accurate reports can answer different questions.
CRM
The signed deal
Billing
The invoice
Warehouse
The payment record
Each source has a piece. The join gives the pieces a shared meaning.
One rule. A useful result.
Example rule / events → tag
CRM: deal signed
Billing: invoice issued
Warehouse: payment recorded
In this order, within 30 days, on the same deal and customer ID.
Resulting tag
Signed deal paid within 30 days
Illustrative rule. Sources, match keys and timing are agreed in the build.
What you get
- An agreed meaning for the result.
- The linked events behind the tag.
- A shared tag for your BI or reporting tools.
Systems usually joined: CRM, Billing, Warehouse. The team checks the records, match keys and destination with you.
A question that crosses teams.
Leaders, finance teams and analysts who need to agree on what a result means.
Good questions. Clear answers.
Does this mean one of our reports is wrong?
Not necessarily. One report may count deals while another counts payments, or use a different time window. The first job is to agree which question the shared result should answer.
Do we have to replace our dashboards?
No. DataGlue can send the resulting tags and context to the BI or warehouse route agreed in the build. Your analysts can keep the views they use.
What if our records do not match?
The team checks the available keys and identity evidence. Uncertain links stay visible; missing records are not treated as confirmed matches.
