Glossary / in plain English

Event stream

An event stream is a flow of records about things happening over time.

01 / Why it matters

What this helps you understand.

New events can change who needs help or what needs attention. Arrival order can differ from the time things happened, so the original timestamps matter.

02 / A small example

The steps. Then the tag.

Example rule / events → tag

  1. Equipment: temperature alert recorded

  2. Maintenance: inspection completed

In event-time order, within 1 hour, on the same equipment ID.

Resulting tag

Temperature alert inspected

Illustrative rule. Sources, match keys and timing are agreed in the build.

03 / In DataGlue

How we use it.

DataGlue brings available streams and source records into a shared model. The build sets how data arrives and how often tags update; a stream is not a promise of instant delivery.
